Recently, as some of you all know, I am still in the weight
loss process. I use process specifically because just like pimpin, dis ish aint
easy. Summer what I would like to call a “coasting” time period – keeping off
the roughly 60 pounds that I have lost so far. Now that summer is over, it is
time to get back into it! I am making changes people! On Monday, I went to
*gulp* Whole Foods and Trader Joe’s and got some great stuff. Granted
everything was almost twice as much, but I am hopeful that it is going to be
worth it. I just dislike the people at the Clarendon Whole Foods. I can't help it. They're all, "Look at me in my LuLuLemons workout clothes and my mint green yoga mat I eat salad for all my meals" and I'm all "I'm going to shove this organic free range un-caged non-hormonal lemon down your throat if you start talking to be about organic deodorant."
Speaking of being healthy, I am playing soccer for an
adult woman's Arlington league starting next weekend. Having to display my sheer athleticism* in
front of a small crowd makes me both excited and nervous. Don’t get me wrong, I
played soccer for 15 years, both house and travel, so I know the game like the
back of my hand. But am I ready to double up on my sports bras, tape up my
child size shin guards, and kick a ball around for an hour? Puh, I guess we are
about to find out. Let’s just hope that I don’t get a black eye from my left
bazunga hitting me in the face or rip my shirt off to reveal a black sports
bra, Brandi Chastain style. What do you all do to stay in shape? Are you
playing any recreational team sports? Kick ball sounds delightful.
*The last time I ran was for roughly 15 seconds 2 weeks ago because I accidentally almost touched a dead frog in a pool filter. Nastay.

Hahahah that photo makes me chuckle.
ReplyDeleteI do not work out, I hate whole foods freaks, and healthy people in general who are always trying to impart their health fad expertise of the week on you like they are doing you a favor...STOP IT! I know eating cupcakes for breakfast twice a week and once for dinner is bad for you!
With that said I need to shape up myself and have zero motivation. So I will be checking back often with the hope that I will absorb some via osmosis from you. I tried 30 mins of on demand yoga on Saturday, which didn't even make me break a sweat, which I'm assuming means it didn't do anything.
Sorry this was long, miss ya!
xx,
Erin
Kate,
ReplyDeleteI play soccer through District Sports in DC and its awesome. They've got a bunch of leagues (7v7, 9v9, 11v11) and I think they're all coed. So you go run around for an hour or so, and then drink beers with fun people. The beer part might not be conducive to losing weight, but it sure is fun! If you decide you just can't get enough soccer and need to play on 3 different teams (I know some of these crazy people, they call themselves athletes or some shit like that), District Sports is a good league to check out.
Hahaha SUCH an accurate description of Clarendon Whole Foods. I agree with Erin, I'm all for being healthy but when the health food yuppie freaks start trying to impose their fad diets on everyone it is so annoying.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with soccer! You have more motivation than me!
